Celia Joes Falicov, PhD

Celia Joes Falicov, PhD, is an internationally known family therapy author, teacher, and clinician. She is Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. She serves on the editorial review boards of several family therapy journals and is past president of the American Family Therapy Academy. Dr Falicov pioneered writings on family transitions, migration, and cultural perspectives in family therapy training and practice. Her Multisystemic Ecological Comparative Approach (MECA) Model integrates cultural and sociopolitical similarities and differences across cultural groups. She is the recipient of many awards for her original work. Her book, Latino Families in Therapy: A Guide to Multicultural Practice, provides a new model for both trainees and experienced therapists.
