To expand training to professionals in the community, Ackerman, under the direction of
Fiona True, LMSW, is mentoring a group of graduates to take
family therapy training to a diverse range of clinical
settings in the metropolitan area. Several long standing relationships also exist such as the one
Ackerman and the Jewish Child Care Association (JCCA) have shared for the past
eight years with a joint mission to strengthen families through family centered
practice. Ackerman offers seminars and case consultations
available to all levels of JCCA staff.
Ackerman continues its involvement with the on-site training of the
Vera Institute of Justice, conducting staff training for an innovative
pilot project. The Adolescent Portable Therapy (APT) program provides
services to youths and their families who are at risk of incarceration.
They also help integrate youths back into their families after
release from institutions. Ackerman staff offer intensive training in
the ideas that embody family therapy practice to both supervisors
and APT line staff.
We are committed to bringing our ideas and training models to the larger
community. To plan a seminar or program tailored for your agency please contact:
