Board Secretary
Nicole Poteat is a Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor at Bank of America Private Bank. Nicole works with high-net-worth individuals and families by helping them to navigate and execute on the potential of their wealth and legacy.
Nicole joined the Ackerman board in 2019 and became a member of the Executive Committee in 2023. She became Board Secretary in 2023. Nicole’s work with Ackerman is inspired by her grandmother Doris Kempner, a former Ackerman board member and social worker, and her brother Michael Poteat, who passed away at age 31 after a battle with chronic illness.
Nicole graduated from Harvard University in 2011 as a National Merit Scholar with a Bachelor’s degree in Government and a secondary in Visual and Environmental Studies. She played for Harvard’s Women’s Rugby team, winning the 2011 National Championships. She graduated from Boston College Law School in 2015 with a JD qualifying for a Public Interest Designation based on her pro bono legal work. Nicole was a Dean’s Merit Scholar, Clough Academic Law Fellow and Clough Public Interest Law Fellow, and an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow. She served as President of Boston College’s Graduate Pride Alliance. Prior to joining Bank of America Nicole was an associate at Goldman Sachs. She has also worked in the non-profit and government sectors including for the US Senate, the Human Rights Campaign, and AIDS Action Committee.
Nicole lives in West Harrison, NY with her wife Emilie and their three daughters, Adeline, Birdie, and Elle. She enjoys oil painting, playing tennis, and walking the family’s two golden retrievers, Charlie and Eliot.
