Expired Bright Beginnings: Prenatal Component Training

This one-day workshop prepares participants to implement the Bright Beginnings Prenatal Component for expectant mothers.  The Bright Beginnings Parenting Program is a comprehensive, research-based  curriculum of group discussions and parent-child activities designed to help parents and/or caregivers promote their children’s mental health and school readiness.

The Prenatal Component consists of six sessions of discussions and activities for pregnant women.  The focus is on developing a strong bond with their unborn child and promoting helpful support systems during pregnancy and the postpartum period.  Each of the six prenatal sessions is focused on a theme and includes a centering/mindfulness activity.  The themes are:  (1) The Story of the Pregnancy, (2) Physical Changes, (3) Emotional Changes, (4) Getting to Know the Baby, (5) Reactions of Others, and (6) Support and Preparation for Delivery.

Learning Objectives:

  • To list and hold the contradictions of the joys and challenges of pregnancy
