The Post-Externship Clinical Fellowship position is a valuable opportunity open to all recent graduates of the Ackerman Institute’s Clinical Externship in Family Therapy program. This 12-month unpaid fellowship offers recent graduates the chance to further their clinical training in Couple and Family therapy at Ackerman under the guidance of an Ackerman-trained Supervisor.
The fellow’s responsibilities are as follows:
- Provide weekly couple and family therapy for a caseload of two to three clients. The caseload may also contain individual cases of family members already receiving family services in the clinic.
- Must be available for an hour of individual clinical supervision held two times a month. Group supervision two times a month will also be offered but not required.
- Maintain up-to-date electronic chart records that include treatment plans and session notes per Ackerman Institute for the Family quality standards and all NYS/OMIG/CMS standards for clinical documentation.
- Give an end-of-fellowship case presentation to clinical staff that illustrates your work, knowledge gained, and any training materials developed that may be used for future teaching and workshops at Ackerman.
Criteria:
- Must be a graduate of Ackerman’s Clinical Externship Program.
- Must hold an active New York State license in one of the following:
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD/PsyD)
- License Psychiatrist (MD)
- Must be recommended by a previous Externship supervisor.
