Position Summary:

This Clinic Therapist position was created for recent graduates of the Ackerman Institute’s Clinical Externship in Family Therapy Program and The Social Work and Diversity (SWD) Program. The therapist will be reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, with support from a Clinic Supervisor. Clinic Therapists are responsible for providing therapeutic services to families through the Ackerman Institute for the Family’s New York State Office of Mental Health, Article 31 Clinic. In addition to skills in Family and Couple Therapy, the qualified candidate will be fluent in discussing race, gender identity and other areas of marginalization. The Clinic Therapist is also expected to work collaboratively, and provide clear, clinical documentation in a timely manner. All required documentation must be completed in accordance with New York State, OMIG, CMS, and any other regulatory or governing body, ensuring that it meets all standards and requirements for audits and compliance reviews.

Essential Job Functions:

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide weekly couple and family therapy for the Institute. Case load may also contain individual cases of family members already receiving therapy in the clinic.
  • Complete an average of 5 sessions per day, with a minimum requirement of 24 sessions per week.
  • Maintain up-to-date, timely, electronic chart records that include treatment plans and session notes, in accordance with Ackerman Institute for the Family quality standards and all NYS/OMIG/CMS standards for clinical documentation.
  • Must be available for an hour of clinical supervision held two times a month.
  • Must be available to work two evenings a week and Saturdays as needed.
  • Participate in clinic team meetings, staff meetings, trainings, and other events as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Letter of Recommendation from a previous supervisor of the Ackerman Institute’s Clinical Externship Program or The Social Work and Diversity Program.
  • Must hold a current and valid license to practice mental health independently in New York, such as LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, or licensed psychologist.
  • Must be well versed in issues related to race, gender identity and other areas of marginalization.
  • Bilingual preferred in English/Spanish, but not required.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Commitment to Ackerman Institute values of inclusion, collaboration, and transparency.
  • Must be proficient with technology to conduct tele-therapy sessions and effectively navigate the Welligent electronic health record system.

Work Environment:

  • This position will be Hybrid.

Compensation:

Ackerman Institute for the Family offers a generous compensation package which includes:

  • $60,000.00 or $80,000.00/year depending on if you are a graduate of Externship or SWD Program.
